The surprise in this group is how cheap the best option is. Gamma’s Plus plan is $9 a seat a month on annual billing, which undercuts every other dedicated presentation tool here. The catch is that it is metered in credits, and the free plans elsewhere are less generous than they look — Beautiful.ai has no free tier at all. Tome, meanwhile, has gone offline entirely: tome.app now returns a 404 across the whole domain, so this month it is three tools, not four.

The short answer

Best value: Gamma Plus at $9 a seat a month, annual. Free tier gives you 400 credits to test it properly first.

If the deck must stay on-brand: Beautiful.ai at $14.50 a month annual — its Smart Slides constrain layout so a deck cannot drift.

One-off deck, no subscription: Beautiful.ai’s ad-hoc month at $45, cancel after.

You already pay for it: Canva. Pro is $144 a year and does presentations alongside everything else.

Three things worth knowing before you pick

1. Credits, not slides. Gamma prices in credits, and generating images costs more than generating text. Plus gives 1,000 a month, Pro 4,000. For a founder making a deck a fortnight, Plus is comfortable; for a teacher generating illustrated material weekly, it is not.

2. Only two let you judge the AI before paying. Beautiful.ai has no free plan, and Tome’s site is down altogether. Only Gamma and Canva let you see the output before paying, which is a good reason to start with Gamma.

3. Constraint is a feature for teaching material. Beautiful.ai’s Smart Slides re-layout automatically and are hard to make ugly. If you are producing a course where every deck must look the same, that constraint is worth more than raw generation speed.

The bottom line

Start on Gamma’s free tier, because it is the only one that lets you see what AI-generated slides actually look like before you pay. If the output suits you, $108 a year is the cheapest serious plan in this category. Move to Beautiful.ai only if consistency matters more than speed, and skip a dedicated tool entirely if you already pay for Canva — the decks it makes are not as fast to generate, but you are not adding a second subscription for them.
